Zoe Lunn joins Walkers Transport, a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network, from Kuehne + Nagel Drinks

Logistics Limited and brings with her more than ten years’ compliance experience.

She is responsible for the development and monitoring of health and safety best practice to ensure the continued safety of Walkers’ 300-strong workforce based across Leeds and Manchester. In this role, Zoe is tasked with developing Walkers’ health and safety culture by challenging the business to deliver industry leading safety standards to its customers and employees. In addition, Zoe is also responsible for ensuring the company maintains health and safety compliance.

Commenting on Zoe’s appointment Richard Simpson, Chief Executive, said: “Safety is Walkers’ number one priority and as a rapidly growing company it was clear that we needed a full time experienced health and safety professional that was responsible for designing and promoting best practice for the safety and wellbeing of our employees and customers.”

Zoe commented “I believe my role is to ensure everything we do is of the highest standard and compliance, complemented by a commercial and customer friendly approach. I felt as though I could make a real difference.

“First and foremost, we believe that everyone should go home happy and healthy at the end of the day. But it is also my aim to continually refine and develop safe working practices that will enhance Walkers’ operational efficiency. This sits hand in hand with the firms ambitious growth strategy.”

Zoe has been tasked with maintaining the firms number one ‘Can Do Rule’ of ‘Safety First’. She continues: “We’re striving to be the safest logistics company we can possibly be which also provides customers the service excellence they deserve. As the company grows I’m excited at the prospect of our team feeling further empowered to lead the way in safety.”

Tim Bentley, UK SHEQ Manager Palletways (UK) Limited, added: “The appointment of Zoe marks a huge leap forward for Walkers. As our largest member, Richard and his team continually strive to improve their operation and a standalone health and safety role will undoubtedly make a positive difference to their business both now and in the future.”

Zoe, who lives in Wakefield, is a Chartered Member of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), as well as a Member of the Institute of Industrial Accident Investigators (IIAI).

Palletways consists of 400 depots across Europe, of which more than 110 are in the UK.
